40 year old Grenache vines grown on sandy soil of the famous lieu-dit Pignan vineyard from which Chateau Rayas take their Pignan reserve wine. Hand harvested, maceration for 18 days with remontage, then aged for 15 to 18 months in French oak foudres.

The Domaine has a vineyard that extends over more than 40 hectares in the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation, spread over 45 plots, spread across this exceptional terroir
Cellared Says
I have a number of clients that are Rhone obsessed, and this was a wonderful wine to throw at them. 100% Grenache was a bit of a curio for many, but all loved the finesse and underlying power of the Pignan vineyard. This is all black cherry juice, dried thyme, slippery oak tannins mixed with the rounded Grenache tannins, all nicely woven into the warm stoney-ness and generosity of the wine. Why pay $1200 for the Chateau Rayas?
Wine Reviews
The freshness and verve are immediate, along with harmonious aromas of bramble, rose petals, white peppercorn and warm baking spices melding in the glass. The palate is abundantly dark and juicy with round drying tannins that remain long on the palate. An incredible wine.

All Grenache from sandy soils, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Pi will spend 15 months all in foudre. It's another rich, full-bodied, meaty, yet also elegant wine from this estate that brings gorgeous red and black fruits as well as loamy earth, spice, and leathery nuances. It's beautifully done and is going to evolve for 15 years or more.
